Trinity County Events: What Happens Around Lewiston All Year

Festivals, fishing season, fair week, and quiet shoulder months — a local's calendar for planning a Trinity County trip.

Trinity County Events: What Happens Around Lewiston All Year

Trinity County doesn't have a crowded event calendar, and that's the point. Here's how the year actually flows around Lewiston Lake so you can time a trip to what you care about.

Spring: water up, crowds down

March through May is green, loud with runoff, and mostly empty. Wildflowers along the Trinity River trails, trout fishing picking up, and the best cabin rates of the year. Weekly stays are a bargain in this window — see the cabin lineup.

Summer: swimming, camping, and the fair

June through August is peak lake season. Lewiston Lake stays cold and calm — it's a constant-level lake, so no ugly bathtub ring. County fair week in Hayfork and small-town Fourth of July celebrations are the big community draws.

This is also when the RV park fills up, so book ahead if you're bringing a rig.

Late summer: Fall Into Music

Our own festival closes out the season at the resort — regional bands, lakeside stage, camping and cabin packages. Details and lineup live on the Events page.

Fall and winter: the quiet stretch

September through November is arguably the best hiking weather of the year, with fall color along the river and almost nobody around. Winter is genuinely quiet — good for writing retreats, off-season weekly stays, and steelhead season.

Planning a group trip in the shoulder season? We host reunions, retreats, and private events when the resort is calm.
